Buying from us
We sell services, not goods, and nothing is bought or paid for on this site. Every engagement starts with a written proposal you accept.
- What you get. Each proposal describes the work, what it ends in (something written or something working), who does it and when.
- Price. We do not publish prices: we measure before we price. After a free first call, the proposal gives either a fixed price for a defined scope of work or, where there are still unknowns, a cost estimate that names them and how they will be settled. Either way it is in one currency, with every cost included. There is no VAT, transport or other charge on top.
- Payment. By electronic funds transfer against our invoice, in the currency on the invoice, by the date on it. We never ask for card details.
- When the work happens. The start date and the dates for each part of the work are in the proposal.
- Your records. The proposal, the invoice and our terms of business are sent to you by email to keep. Ask us for a copy at any time.
- Cancelling and refunds. Set out in the terms of business sent with each proposal, including what is paid for work already done.
- Cooling-off. Where section 44 of the ECT Act applies, you may cancel within seven days of accepting without reason or penalty. It does not apply to a service that has started, with your agreement, before those seven days end.
- Security and privacy. We take no payments online and store no payment details. Personal information is handled as set out in the privacy notice.
If something goes wrong, tell us at hello@subtraction.co and we will answer within five working days. Disputes we cannot settle together are decided under the law of South Africa.
